Volume 3 ~ Inspirational Short Stories ~ As I enter into my twilight years, I want to permanently shed my insecurities and enter this final stage of my life with as much grace and wisdom as humanly possible. I have been an observant student for the majority of my life. Perhaps now, after all these years, I can get into the driver’s seat and call myself a good teacher. I have succeeded in learning to “teach without classroom walls” and I have now written my own motivational books to go along with this philosophy. This experience has been extremely liberating for me. I hope by reading what I have to say and by incorporating some of my suggestions into your life, you too can find a sense of true freedom and peace. At the end of each chapter, there is an opportunity for personal reflection. I recommend that you take a moment to personally consider the questions posed and how my words can make a difference in your life. There is no need to rush through this inspirational book. It is meant to be read slowly, pondered upon, used as a stepping stone to reflect upon its content, its message and how it applies to each of you in your own life. I also want you to realize that my voice is only a soft whisper. Please hear it this way. It’s from my heart to yours. Maya Angelou’s words mirror my exact sentiments. "The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart".

Dolores Ayotte continues to be a comforting presence in her inspirational series of books, following up on the previous two volumes with this third installment. This book is a beautiful collection of wisdom gathered from years of experience--Ayotte shares her life raising children and overcoming everyday obstacles, and the advice she offers comes with plenty of grace and care. Her voice in writing is like reading a letter from Mom just when you need it most, like a big bowl of hot chicken soup. I love the way Ayotte uses her family experience and personal spirituality to touch others and motivate those who may be struggling, especially with conditions like depression that can be debilitating and affect every aspect of a person's life. Ayotte masterfully weaves her own personal story and triumph with important messages to the reader: how to set goals and work steadily to achieve them with perseverance, positive attitude, and the word of God.I enjoyed and appreciated every moment of Ayotte's writings, and I'm confident that her words will work magic and provide soothing comfort for many more people as well. I highly recommend this volume, as well as Dolores Ayotte's earlier writing for its welcoming, all-encompassing tone and importance to sufferers of mental illness.

A Woman Voice ~ Inspirational Short Stories ~ Volume 3 Dolores Ayotte 9780994867339 Books Reviews
Like the first two volumes of the Inspirational Short Stories series, the tone here is so gentle, so soothing, and so intimate, that without imposition, it allows to open up to a new way of thinking about your life. You cannot avoid feeling the compassion Dolores Ayotte has for the plight of men and women alike. Her words come whispering, touching the heart and spurring you to think for yourself. With her endearing humility, she says, "I wanted to touch as many lives as possible and I didn't know any other way except by the written word."
Drawing from a wide wealth of wisdom, Dolores Ayotte allows us to enjoy the sagacity of men and women whose words seem to dovetail so perfectly into the suggestions she gives you. Thus, every chapter opens with a quote. My favorite was, "For fast-acting relief try slowing down," by Lily Tomlin. Every chapter offers a story drawn from the author's experience, her own struggles and memories. Of her father she says, "I still miss him and the impact he had on my life to this very day. He was not a well-educated man nor was he perfect. I certainly remember thinking he was when I was a young child." And then she shares his wisdom with you. Every chapter ends with a few questions you may want to reflect upon, such as, "Do you agree that starting with one small easy step could help turn your life around?" These should not be seen as rhetorical questions, because it is up to you, really, to choose a positive direction and take charge of your life one small step at a time.
The chapters are brief, and I think of each one of them as `wisdom in a capsule', because they are not meant to be digested all at once. Take your time with this book, and you will find yourself enriched by it.
Five stars.
An inspirational book with questions at the end of each chapter for personal reflection. I love the author's little garden sign she writes about that says "Life Began in a Garden". The first chapter talks about hobbies turning into success and personal goals. The volume also contains quotes by inspiring individuals. The author is open and honest and writes of her own struggles and success and how with goals, she attained personal improvement and success with both gardening and writing. She writes about the simple pleasures of life and how sometimes less is more because it reduces stress in life. Appreciation, gratitude, and contentment are the building blocks for peace and the reduction of stress. She writes of reacting too quickly, which is something we all can probably identify with. One chapter talks about revenge. My view on that is it belongs to God. Let Him take care of it. I love the quote by Dale Carnegie about how most important things accomplished were done by people who kept trying even when there seemed to be no hope. It's such an inspiring quote and perfect for this type of inspirational book. This nonfiction volume is meant to be read slowly and digested and there are two others. This is the third one in the set. I've read and reviewed all of them and enjoyed doing so. It's interesting to read how others see life and how they solve their problems, and we can learn from others by reading. I enjoyed the tidbit about the author having twin girls and not knowing she was until the day she went into labor. Talk about a surprise. The author writes about depression. Sometimes women seem to have a bout with it after childbirth. I love the oxygen mask example, but I won't say too much so as not to give away too much of the author's book. It's a great example. I have to agree with the man's advice in this example. The author writes, "My words are my hammer." When you read her hammer story, you'll understand. Loved this story, I love the quote by C. S. Lewis, "You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream." Dolores, the author, writes about personal mementoes and how it hurts when something we value isn't appreciated by others. We are sentimental over them, but our children may not see the value we do or understand. She writes of relationship building and provides readers with nuggets of gold through her treasures, stories, and examples as well as so many lovely, inspiring quotes. She shows she's human, open, honest, and I'm sure readers will be able to identify with her stories. I think the two-sided comment a woman graced the author with at her husband's Christmas party is lovely and thought-provoking as is this little gem of a book. Don't forget to stop and take a second look. You'll understand after reading this story. She has a story called "The Three Faces of Eve" which is also thought-provoking. This author married her high school sweetheart, dreamed of writing for years, finally started, hasn't stopped, and I had to laugh a bit at her story about her husband getting a burr in his saddle and how she told him to just spit it out. Thirty stories to inspire you, make you smile, laugh, or think and reflect. Savor the flavors of this book as the man in the Christmas story in the last one of the book said to savor the flavor. Most of her writing is faith-based, and she draws from personal inspiration and experience as well as her relationship with God. If you enjoy women's inspirational books, you'll enjoy this one. And, like a hard piece of Christmas candy, savor the flavor and make it last.
This was the perfect read for ‘one of those weeks’ when there were a few issues we hope will not happen too often. I didn’t have the time to read a full novel; short inspirational stories suited the situation and the mood I was in. I trust author, Dolores Ayotte, to deliver, just the right uplifting message without any of the preachiness. She also writes in an easy to read, honest, and entertaining way.
This is the third volume of the, A Woman's Voice, Inspirational Short Stories series, that I’ve read. I feel that they could be read in any order and would be great to keep on your eReader to return to when you need a quiet interlude read. There are gems of wisdom, in the form of quotes, and there are questions to challenge the reader into making positive life choices.
This book is meditative, and enriching in its potential for the reader. I loved it.
